Why We are Choosing Not to Open
Hi, to our community, wherever you may find yourself in this moment.
I wanted to share some important information in light of the Texas Governor's recent announcement that non-essential businesses open this Friday.
I find myself at a crossroads where the onus to protect our community is being placed on myself as a small business owner. Because my top priority the health and safety of our staff, customers and community — MBS will *not* be opening our brick & mortar shop on Friday, May 1st.
I believe the Governor’s directive to be premature and misguided and I will wait until public health officials green light the safe reopening of non-essential businesses. COVID-19 cases are still on the rise in the US and the most insidious attribute of this virus is the number of those infected who remain asymptomatic. In Texas, only 1% of the population has been tested.
Having spent the last 6 weeks embroiled and entangled in endless paperwork and difficult negotiations as we weather debilitating revenue loss, it’s tempting to believe opening our doors to the public would provide financial relief. But the reality is that doing so would only make the road ahead that much more difficult. For our team. For the suppression of this pandemic. For preventing further loss of life.
We will continue to be open online only. If you wish to show us support, please visit our website to see our in-stock items and our 20% off gift cards. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please reach out to us as made-to-order options are increasingly available.
