Silk Charmeuse (from the French word meaning “charmer”) is shiny and lustrous on one side with a matte finish on the reverse and an all around luxurious feel. It is light enough to drape beautifully but substantial enough to not be sheer or unforgiving. Silk is a perfect counterpart to natural dyes as it takes plant-based pigments beautifully and brilliantly, with a luminous and radiant quality.
Available in: Bundle Dyed Pericón & Iron, a regenerative dye created with organic, locally grown Mexican Mint Marigold (aka Pericón) dipped in an Iron bath after dyeing. Extracts of Cochineal, reclaimed Osage Wood, Himalayan Rhubarb and Alkanet Root dye extracts are hand sprinkled onto the surface of the fabric before it is bound and steamed to create this spontaneous pattern.

The small batch colors from our naturally dyed clothing collection are formulated and dyed in-house in Austin, TX with non-toxic, plant-based dyes. They come in very limited quantities and are only available while supplies last.
Natural is the undyed, naturally occurring color of the fibers.
Our black fabrics are conventionally dyed with AZO-free dyes in the USA. Learn why we use conventionally dyed black fabrics here.
For most garments, we recommend hand washing with a gentle detergent and hanging or laying flat to dry, or dry cleaning. Organic Cotton can be machine washed and tumble dried on low heat. For comprehensive instructions, visit our Garment Care Guide.

I LOVE this dress. It’s versatile, super comfortable and washes well. On a recent trip to Austin I stopped in the studio. The staff is amazing. They were so helpful and patient while I tried on the whole store (at least it felt like it)! I only wish this dress was available in more colors in the bubble gauze.
